Volkswagen Touareg transmission locked

Car: Volkswagen Touareg
Variant: 3.0 TDI
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Parked my Touareg in the drive. Next day,the car started but cannot move the automatic gear control. Local garage not prepared to move car in case gearbox will be damaged.
Note: exhaust system light had been on for the last week, not sure if this is relevent!

Is this a mechanical or electrical fault? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

David

Guessing it will be the same as similar VW models and a fault with the 'N376 Ignition Switch Key Lock Solenoid'This is an electrical solenoid located beneath the shift lever assembly that 'locks' the transmission shift lever in the PARK position unless the engine in running and the brake pedal is depressed .
