Volkswagen Polo engine management light on. intermittent loss of power once warmed up.

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Variant: 1.2 E 55 Bhp 3 Dr
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The engine fires up on the 1st turn of the key and drives okay for about 15 mins. When it warms up the and it is put under any load the revs drop off with a loss of power, knock it down a gear and it picks up again. Driving without the EM light on the engine misses and keeps losing power.
EM light is on & steady, called out AA who didn't have the right fault code in computer so only managed to off light. Car ran with no light for 100 miles but still losing power etc. Light came on again today (steady)with same symptoms, loss of power and occasionally engine will cut out completely.
Fault code from AA = P0131 O2 SENSOR LOW VOLTAGE, BANK 1 SENSOR 1. The AA guy thought it was more likely to be a ignition coil that was on it's way out, couldn't prove it because didn't have correct programme loaded on onboard computer!

AA man doesn't sound very helpful .If he didn't have correct programme , how did he read codes ? I would check your plugs and the ignition coils which are a very common fault .Usually track or short / break down causing miss .
