Volkswagen Polo brake locks while moving in slow traffic

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Variant: 1.44 Manual
Model Year: 1998
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I had a nightmarish day when I was just easing about with my cluch and brake to move
another few meters in the traffic with the signal about 300mtrs ahead, when my brake jammed and with the momentom pushing my car ahead I just surviwed to the right with hand brake pulled right up and ended up by the side of the road.
I had a similar problem a week back while turning into a small lane when my brake jammed.
I am sort of panic stricken could you tell what could be the problem cuase altough it is a old car I had recently put a brand new
ABS and brake system.

is the brake pedal going straight to the floor and not stopping the car?you need to be clearer with descprition,is the brake pedal spongey, check the brake fluid level and check for any leaks from brake system, brake might need another bleed

If the brake pedal jammed , it's a well known fault that the Polo suffers from the pedal boxes cracking / failure . Check this out first.
