Volkswagen Polo cuts out then difficult to start again

this problems happens about once a month, the car just cuts out then it takes about alot longer than normall to start again (which in traffic is annoying) then wont go above 3000revs and if i dont keep my foot on the accelerator the revs will just die, if anyone could help me please!!!!

Hi
There are basically two types of cutting out, Ign, system failure characterised by instantaneous power loss or fuel supply related issues which would be experienced as a more gradual loss of power ie 2-3 seconds for the engine to die.
