Volkswagen Polo revs sticking

when i turn the ignition on theres a high pitched constant tone coming from the throtle body, then when i start the car it seems to tick over normal for a minute then the revs raise to around 2000rpm and stay there?.. any ideas?

check breather hoses for damage.if there cracked they will draw in 2 much air causing high revs. also clean the air idle control valve. hope this helps a bit
