Volkswagen Polo engine not firing

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Variant: 1.4 manual
Model Year: 1995
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
had this problem for a while. When starting the car the engine turns but does not fire up. I have had the spark plugs, leads and distrubeter (spelling) cap changed. Have had RAC out a few times who have just hooked it up with jump leads started engine and used Easy Start Spray and it fires up no problem. Been for a full service and no problems detected. Have now tried Fuel Injector cleaner and now it wont start full stop with either a battery pack or by bump starting. Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Hi these cars do suffer from faulty coils as they have an amplifier built beneath them, but also the actual distributors fail. when cranking the distributor should give a signal to the coil

could be a faulty ignition switch that when turned to crank the engine it loses the feed to the ignition system. try turning the ignition on and then putting a feed to the small starter wire so you are not turning the key ps make sure its in neutral first
