Volkswagen Polo loud tapping noise when starting engine

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Variant: 3 door 1.4 SE Manual
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My Polo makes a loud tapping noise for approx 5 mins whenever I start the engine. The noise started in June this year after I'd done approx 12,000 miles. It had its first service and the oil was changed in March 2009.

I've taken it back to the authorised VW dealer twice, who said it was normal and was just the injectors warming up.

Can anyone suggest anything? I'm sure it's not normal as it never used to sound like a ratty old diesel. It's still under warranty but the local VW garage insist there's nothing wrong.

Many thanks in advance.

Get back to dealers and insist they rectify fault.Nonsense it takes 5 mins to quieten down especially as it did not do this until recently .If still getting messed about ,get them to give you Volkswagen Customer services contact no. and get on to them about poor service re. fault. Could be something like oil not circulating properly , hence rattle or maybe a tappet . Really have to hear noise .
