Volkswagen Polo intermittent starting fault

Car: Volkswagen Polo
Variant: 1.4S
Model Year: 2001
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Most times the engine fires immediately and the car runs fine. Occasionally it is reluctant to start, but usually does, always accompanied by (1) the initial audible low pressure warning plus the following which continue for the whole journey: (2) the low pressure warning light flashes (3) the rev counter doesn't work and (4) the exhaust emission warning light comes on. On first occurring a pressure check indicated normal pressure. If the engine starts normally next time (1) (2) and (3) don't occur, (4) usually takes a few journeys before disappearing. The garage diagnosed a faulty crank sensor and replaced it, but the problem still exists. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

If the low pressure you refer to is the engine oil pressure ,replace sender / pressure switch .Also change oil and filter if not been done for a while , using correct grade of a good make would help .Check and replace plugs and air filter if needed for emissions .If that doesn't work , may be a o2 sensor but should show up on diagnostic scan
