Volkswagen Polo car starts revs once then cuts out

I have had this problem for about a month now, some days it can be fine but on other day the car will turn over rev once and cuts out. I cant get it started making it very unreliable to drive, i have seen a lot of people with he same problem but its never really been pin pointed.. would appreciate it if anyone could help! thanks

sounds like a fuel related problen, replace the fuel filter it may be clogged up. then replace the spark plugs and the air filter.
