Volkswagen Passat injector seals

Car: Volkswagen Passat
Model Year: 2009
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
I've just had my 57 plate 2 litre diesel Passat 140 TDI serviced and they tell me that oil is getting in to the diesel due to the seals around the injectors failing. They say this is a commom fault with 2006 & 2007 models of this car and it requires nearly £1,200 of work to correct.
I've looked all over the net and can see no other reports of this problem being reported.
Are they correct,is this a known problem and what are the umplications of not having the work done?

Was this a VW garage ? Has car been serviced by dealers as per schedule ? If so and they say it's a known fault , ask them if Volkswagen will do it under an abnormal warranty claim or contribute towards cost . If not get a second opinion from a diesel specialist , usually can be found in local Yellow pages .
