how can do a air lock
Posted: Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
you need to re-phrase your post as it makes no sense,i take it you have an air lock and it needs bleeding, you need to top up coolant level and undo any bleed screws to release air, squeeze the radiator hoses to force the air to expansion tank and out of system, set heater to hot setting and start car, allow to idle for few minutes with cap off to allow any excess air to escape, when heater starts getting warm then put cap on and run car upto temperature making sure fan cuts in and thermostat is opening

wat it is hot water goin into the matrix box but none comin out so my heaters r blowin cold but now and then it will blow bubbles back to my water bottle then they will blow hot soon as bubbles stop they go cold

sounds like the matrix could be blocked, might be worth flushing the cooling system thru to remove any debris, are the water pipes that go into the matrix getting nice and hot or is one staying cold?
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
can you get access to the heater matrix inside the car, check it is`nt leaking and see whether any part of it is getting hot
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
yes the pipe is nice and hot goin into the box
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
where can i find the matrix box
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
it will be inside the heater assy, might be a dash out job, would need to consult a haynes manual,if you disconnect the pipes going to matrix in the engine bay and stick a hose pipe on the matrix and see if the water comes out the other side
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
i done that and water came out of the matrex box
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
that means the matrix is`nt blocked then, have you had a block test done to check the headgasket is`nt blown?
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
if my car isnot over heatin could it still be my headgaket and im not losein water
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
if the system is`nt bleeding properly and the water is`nt circulating properly then it could overheat,is the thermostat opening ok?make sure rad is`nt blocked,
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
shall i drain all the water out of the car and fill it up to c it air lock go
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
have you tried disconnecting rad pipes and flushing system thru with a cold hose
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
no do u think that might work
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
it might do,if there is a blockage in the rad or any of the pipes it might flush it out,as long as the coolant can circulate around system it should bleed out with out too much grief, worth a try
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
Not sure from your posts if water is passing through the matrix or not i.e " goin into the matrix box but none comin out " .If matrix blocked , major job to replace .
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
how can i check if my matrex box is blocked wat shall i do
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
are you certain the water pump is functioning properly?
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
how can i tell if water pump is not workin tidy
Posted Jan 27, 2011 (13 years ago)
is the coolant being circulated round system, the pipes should get warm pretty quick and return to expansion bottle
Posted Jan 28, 2011 (13 years ago)
Just to add to " paulieone's " suggestion re. water pump ,the plastic water pump impellers on early 1.8 20v engines fail (newer water pumps have metal impellers).

Posted Jan 28, 2011 (13 years ago)
yes the water is circulated and pipes get warm fast
