Volkswagen Passat central locking drivers door

The lock barrels on the drivers and passenger doors are broken thru the recent frost so I have to lock the central locking by the boot. Recently the driver's door lock sometimes locks and sometimes doesn't. Now the driver's door is locked and will not open inside or out. Recently the dashboard. Started flashing inspection due and now flashing oil light and the word oil but it doesn't need oil. help thanks for any help

You will have to strip down door trim and repair linkage or replace lock depending on what you find . The warning message will probably be telling you that a service and oil change are overdue .

hi legend, thanks for the info, i see what you mean with the message but thhe door link isn't broken. when you pull the inside handle to unlock it it's like your pulling a spring that pulls back.

Thats how the handle works from the inside , it should pull back to original position on door .It may not be operating lock mechanism inside though .

its not a mechanical fault it ties with the immobilizer or computer. i'll have to have to get a fault finder check. unless you have any other ideas at all.
