I would put the ecu on a radiator to dry out first and retry what have you got to lose, if its no better then look for a replacement

The box will be a body control ECU, (electronic control unit)',
And I think they are interchangeable as long as the numbers match, I am sure they don't need programming, but don't hold me to that!

The drying out on a rad, is a good idea, and the leak, check it's not had a windscreen fitted, that may be the problem!

the problem will be the foam seal under the pollen filter thats under the bonnet you need to remove the cover thats under the windscreen on the passenger side then you will see the filter, remove that and the housing that it sits in and then use some silicon sealer to reseal and put it back together good luck

oh forgot to say the ecu,s can be dried out as suggested but sometimes as well the wiring around that area has some small connections in the loom where wires join together in like a heatshrink material and they can break so it might be worth stripping back a bit of the tape on the wiring loom and looking at these joints. just make good any broken wires and retape everything
