Volkswagen Golf ignition delay, unnecessary rpms and speed ?

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Variant: 2.0
Model Year: 2002
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,

1. lately I am having quite some delay during ignition to start the vehicle, it takes like 7-10 seconds to start the vehicle, this happens when the vehicle has just been switched off and restarted in about 2-3 miniutes ?

2. When the above happens the RPM needle stays at 2000 even though the vehicle is stationary, and lately the RPM needle goes till 5000 without the vehicle even moving ?

3. Again when the (1) happens and the gear is in D and even before the accelerator is pressed the vehicle instead of moving slowly the speed is like it is being driven at 40kmph [2000 RPM] even though the acelerator pedal ISN'T pressed ?

3. The battery is less than a year old, if that helps.

Many posible causes , could check engine coolant temp sensor which is common fault and cleaning throttle body . If still having problems , you will need to get a diagnostic scan carried out and see what shows .
