Volkswagen Golf rumbling and grumbling from rear

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Variant: GTI
Model Year: 1995
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
WHEN I DRIVE AT ANY SPEED THERE IS A CONSTANT GRIDING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR. WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE CAR IS GONNA BREAK. ALSO WHEN I SLOW DOWN THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT AND A PULSATING FEELING COMES THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL? WAS THINKING SHOCKS OR SUSPENSION?

the noise from the rear could be a number of things like a stone trapped rear pads worn down to the point where they are metal on metal and the pulling and judder will be either warpped discs or you have a sticky caliper ie one caliper is doing more work than the other hence the pulling but have these check out if you are not confident to inspect yourself
