it the camshaft motion sensor needs replaced
i was wondering if it was a big job or if i
could have a go at it myself

It really all depends how mechanically competant you are, while it maybe possible for you to do this you will have to get the fault code erassed from the comp afterwards, i presume you have had it code read to know there is a fault.
is the car now out of warrenty/

he car is a month out of vw 3year warranty but itook out a years warranty with arnold clark and they are being a bit dodgy about it

Dodgy or not looks like you are entitled to have it repaired under warranty if the warranty is still valid.customer satisfaction is a big issue these days.
