Volkswagen Golf engine management light

Car: Volkswagen Golf
Variant: 2.0 SDI
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi,

About 2 months ago my engine management light came on and the car started running on 3 cylinders. I took the car into the garage and they said the fault was a broken fuel injector, which they replaced costing around £600.

One week later the light came back on and i called the garage and they said it was just because they hadnt cleared the fault of the computer. For one week the light didnt reappear and the car ran fine but then the light came back on but performance was fine.

Now a month later the car has started running on 3 cylinders again! (heard better sounding tractors)

has anyone any idea where i stand with the garage? and any ideas what could be causing the fault?

Think you are duty bound to take it back to them first of all and see what they say / find .Depending on outcome of that what next step would be .Either that or get another garage to check out and report and then if anything to do with the original repair , confront garage with findings .

Some of the VW engineshave the wiring loom for the injectors inside the rocker cover and they are famous for going faulty. this fault is more common in golfs and passats with engine code BKC

Spot on dell boy, they replaced the wiring loom and its sorted all issues with it.

Thanks for your input gents.
