can not turn the ignition key to start up car

EVERY THING SEEMS O BE WORKING, BUT KEY WILL NOT TURN WHEN INSERTED IN IGNITION . STARTED THE CAR TWICE SINCE , BUT IF I TAKE KEY OUT AND PUT IT BACK IN IT WILL NOT TURN. THE CAR IS AUTOMATIC.

If key wont turn , sounds like worn steering lock / barrel / switch .Try another key in case the one your using is worn .

thank you tried that no difference . The couple of times I got it started was by taking it out and putting it back in it clicked and started, but when taken out it failed again.I think you are right about worn lock, are they much of a job to replace.

This might / might not help you with the ignition switch
Thank you all for your advice. In the end I rang car key repairs they came to the same day with a new barrel changed the lock settings to suit my keys took the guy about 1 hour watched him do it , and he explained it all to me . Would not have been able to do it on my own charged £421 pounds sounds expensive but he got me out of a problem I could do without. Hope this helps some one else out of a problem.
