Hi. After driving my car for a few miles my display says Check 'Coolant Level'. Even though i turned the engine off and checked the coolant level and the water level was alright. the same problem occured after a few miles when i was on the road, however, this time there was a burning smell coming out off the bonnet - no steam. i opened the bonnet and the engine was really really hot. please help.!!!

Many possible causes for overheating . Could test thermostat first .

Thankss!! What should I do next. I dont want to take it to the Vauxhall Dealer because they charge you for how long they are busy with your car. last time i told them to check it i payed £50 for just half and hour. and they told me their was nothing wrong with my car.

Probably best to go to any local independant garage and let them have a look / quick check on car . Then they should advise you better on possible cause and cost . Lot cheaper than main dealer and no need to go there .Better get it checked out before serious damage to engine may occur .
