Vauxhall Zafira engine will not start

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Variant: 2.0 tdi
Model Year: 2000
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
just changed the engine now the salvaged one will not start does not appear to be getting fuel vauxhall said it needs the fuel pump from the old engine or to be sent to them to be remaped on the ecu
pal told me this is not the problem as it only has a single multi plug conector
engine will fire with easy start but then stops after a few seconds

classic DIY problem. the pumps on these engines have an ecu unit built into them. they are programmed to the cars ecu unit and will only work with that ecu unit. it is possible to have the pump unmounted from the ecu (bit like unmounting a USB device from a computer) and having it reprogrammed to the new ECU but it's gonna cost. it is possible to remove the ECU unit from the pump and swap it over so you could put the original pump ecu in the new pump. there are tutorial videos on youtube showing you how to do it.
the lack of fuel could be due to the system needing priming too using a manual hand primer.
