This seems to be a common fault on this car .The article below , from another site explains one of the causes.
Hi
Just repaired the rear door wiring loom on a Zafira A series
It seems where the external loom touches the rear door skin the wires are prone to breaking
The problem was a rear door where the central locking wires had broken and the door wouldn't open at all
The solution was:-
Remove the securing screws - one in the centre of the pull handle - once removed remove the handle section and remove the two other screws from behind it
One screw behind the tweeter and another behind the electric window blank/switch
Then carefully lever the top of the door card over the door metal and pull from the inside - the trim will then come away quite easily
Remove the spray protector from the lock area and locate the central locking plug - pull the red clip up and remove the plug from the motor
Then using a 'power probe' or fused live wire - put power to the top pin and earth to the lower one under the top one - sounds confusing but there are three pins - one on top two under - you will see it when you get there
this should activate the central locking which will then unlock the door and enable you to open it
Remove the three bottom screws and the manual window winder if fitted and remove the door card
unclip the wiring loom and remove / rolll back the rubber cover
Repair the broken wires - (i found all but 2 had broken)
I used new lengths of wire to rplace the broken sections - the best stuff is the multi core wire
i then soldered the joints used heat shrink for the individual wires and black tape to recover them
then i used super glue to re join the rubber boot
refit and test
job done
in all start to finish was just under the Hour - DIY guys allow the extra 1/2 hour
This is also the same for rear windows that stop working except you just need to repair the wiring loom in the same place and don't have to remove the door card
cheers
Steve
