Vauxhall Zafira intermittent increased revs whistling sound

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Variant: 1.6 active
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
I have noticed when car is idling an increase in revs approximately every 30seconds accompanied by a whistling sound. I have narrowed this down to near the air filter where the pipe enters the engine. Also when turning off the engine there is a rushing of air not sure whether in or out tho.

Sounds lie you have a vacuum pipe / air hose leaking or off .

I have since noticed the large air pipe from the air filter to the engine appeared to be crushed/sucked in. I have loosened it off and run engine without it connected but still the problem persists. Any more ideas anyone???

Wont run right if hose not fixed ( if hose I think you are talking about )

I also noticed suction in the dip stick. The problem was the main breather for the engine solved by fitting a new rocker box cover bought off ebay for 140 pounds as the breather is built into the cover and cant be replaced separately. Hope this helps.
