what you have here is common problem you do require a new coil pack which sits on top of the engine and supplys all 4 plugs with the power these cost about £100 mark so if you can do have this checked first by a mobile auto electrition as there also common for the tdc sensor aswell

surely being a dti it wont have a coil pack do any lights on the dash flash it may well have a transponder key fault if they do.has the key fell apart lately you may have lost the chip fom inside it?

sorry my mistake didnt read the heading properly but from my years at the vauxhall dealers ive replaced alot of diesel pumps on the dti being faulty but do have this checked out first before going to the dealers as most diesel pumps can be repaired by the diesel specialists also have the glow plugs tested as these can result to bad starting in the morning ie lumpy starting

i would say check the power at glow plugs but also remove the fuel filter and see if it is really black if it is injector seals are leaking do you have a problem starting when hot as well

Sounds more like injector seals to me, These diesel pumps never used to go wrong it was the immob side, ecu side that were not very good,
Check the fuel filter for signs of oil if black will need new injector seals, Not cheap job.

very common problem. the copper injector seals do fail but the most common fault is the fuel spill off pipes perish. im changing mine every 9 - 12 months regardless.it could also be the fuel filter housing itself, they have a water drain off plug on the bottom which could come loose, the sealing ring also perishes. the problem your having is the diesel has flowed back to the tank and dispite what vauxhall, haynes manuals ect say. the diesel pump does not have enough power to draw the fuel up from the tank, fill the filter ect. zafiras do not have a lifter pump in the tank. you will need a manual hand primer to prime the fuel system after doing any work to it.
