Vauxhall Zafira revolving dashboard dials and noise when reverse gear is engaged

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Variant: 1.8I LIFE AUTO EASYTRONIC
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
I have two issues with my Vauxhall Zafira.

First: All dash board dials (speed dial, Tank gauge and RPM) revolve by them self while the engine is off and won’t start when attempted. To get the car going again every time it happens, I have to remove the battery terminal and fix it back. Took it to Vauxhall, at first they did a diagnostic and said it needed reprogramming which they did. That how ever did not stop the problem, had to take it back. They then concluded that they the car was driving well and they couldn’t find any fault.

Second, after the engine has run for a while, there is a cranking noise when the car is put into reverse gear. The Vauxhall chaps said its normal, but it’s only recently started.

Can anyone suggest a solution to these problems?

That sounds like an earthing issue,I would check the main earth lead to chassis from the battery is good first, also check for play in your ignition switch by inserting the key .I would take it back to your dealer and get them to look at this issue again and get a courtesy car from them if possible ,till your car has been run, faulted and fixed.
