Vauxhall Zafira braking issue

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Variant: 1.8 design
Model Year: 2003
Categories: Leaks & Noises
this morning i started my car up and defrosted the windows as it was -4 when i went to pull away it seamed as though the rear brakes locked on and stayed on for a good 1/2 mile also the abs and traction control lights came on. i reversed the car to see if that would free the brakes but no luck. any ideas would be greatly recieved.

thanks in advance

Could be h/brake cable , pads / shoes , or linkage sticking .Need to get it jacked up and wheel off to check it out .

Hi Mikey, very common problem this time of year. Usually a strip and good clean up solves most problems, but as above post says, check h/brake cables etc.
ps. My daughter had the same problem this morning on her Astra!

you are better not to pull the handbrake over night if it is -4 because it will stick by leaving the engine idel without moveing the car the handbrake will free out if you drive it the brakes will overheat the linen will come off the brake shoe and jam the back wheels so you are better not drive the car if the handbrake is stuck
