Vauxhall Zafira buning rubber

A car and spanner light comes on and goes into limp mode, i can turn car of and on again and it sorts it for a short time and comes back on. When i park up it smells of burning rubber. Any ideas

Sounds like a slipping belt. Does it have a rubber belt to drive auxiliaries like the alternator or power steering. If so check for wear and tension.

Alternater has been replaced 2weeks ago and the belts were done on 95000 mile im now on 105000 mile iv had a look and belt seems fine and so does tension but im no expert. If there is a problem with a pully or tension would that make car and spanner light come on

Sounds like the diesel particulate filter is trying to regenerate itself , quite normal for the burning smell if so .Sometimes a belt down the motorway works wonders especially if car used for short journeys .
