Vauxhall Zafira squeal on front offside wheel

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Variant: 1.8 Easitronic
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I have a loud squealing noise coming from the front offside wheel, which stops when I touch the brake pedal, but as soon as I lift off ,it starts again. The noise sometimes decreases,or stops when turning the steering wheel, but starts again when straightening up.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, the only solution really is to get the wheel off and take the pads out to have a look. Could be anything from a bit of dirt between the disc and pads or a sticking piston (check for uneven pad wear) or just needing a clean and reassembly with copper grease.

most vauxhalls have a metal squeal wear indicator on the brake pads witch touch the brake disk when they are worn

Most common occurrence is the backplate at the bottom near the ball joint, touching the disc.
Just turn the wheel on full lock and pull away backplate with your fingers, only has to be a couple of mm.

Hope this helps
