Vauxhall Vivaro fuel system

Car: Vauxhall Vivaro
Model Year: 2007
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
Hi, Hoping someone can shed some light on the purpose of a small black plastic thing, with arrows on at the end of a fuel pipe on our vivaro? We have got air in the system & the van runs in limp mode til it gets hot or you ask it to rev a bit. The air seems to be collecting at this 'thing' at the end of the pipe, nearside front of the airbox. The hand primer goes really hard after a couple of squeezes but can't seem to shift this air lock.....any suggestions?

You dont say what engine in car . Normally what you describe with the arrows is a fuel filter , the arrows showing the way fuel flows .

It's a 2007 1995cc diesel, the thing is on the opposite side of the engine to the fuel filter. The van will run for a few miles then cut out, then won't run for more than a second
