Vauxhall Vectra car boot lid

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Model Year: 1998
In cold weather the boot lid will not stay in the "up" position but falls down which is both inconvenient and dangerous.

I have been told that it is something to do with "gas".

What is the problem and can it be solved (and cost?!)

Sounds like you need new boot struts .Simple and inexpensive to fit and replace . This gives you an idea of cost .
