Vauxhall Vectra power steering failing when driving

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Variant: 1.8 exclusive
Model Year: 2008
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Whilst driving the power steering on my car fails. Once ignition is turned off and reset power steering works again fine. This is intermittant and vauxhall cannot find a fault. Can anyone shed some light on this for me as it could be dangerous if travelling at high speeds when this happens.

If the car has progressive assisted stearing like the Omega and my old Senator it could be the Servatronic unit. This is a small silver box mounted under the dash by the stearing column. Accessed by removing the fibre shield underneath.

It has two cables with circular plugs, one male and one femail. They can be unplugged and coupled together. This done the power stearing should be operating all the time with no reduction at speed. If this works the Servatronic has packed up.
