Vauxhall Vectra high pitched siren noise

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Variant: 1.9 Diesel
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Leaks & Noises
I have a high pitched noise like a distant siren when pulling off and driving slowly when beginning a journey. Seems to disappear at higher speeds but maybe road noise masks it? Any ideas?

is it present when moving or all the time?could be a number of things ranging from slipping aux belt to brake squeal.

Thanks for teh questions.....
The noise only seems to happen for a short period after starting off and seems to be related to car speed, more noticeable when slowing down - not necessarily related to applying the brakes...?

Thought it might have been wheel bearing , which give a droning noise and varies with car speed .But is usually constant when it starts rather than disappearing .
