2002 Vauxhall Vectra rheostat

the rheostat only works in the flat out (n.o4) position , ive checked all fuses (ok)had the rhostat control to bits cant see any mechanical problem , looks like a circuit board behind the control knobs which i cant get at to have look at,got 5 wires going into it but dont know whats what to test any ideas where to start?

replace it... rheostats go for a passtime. they have about 5 wires going to it with 2 screws holding it to the air box behind the center console. access it from the passenger side... take glovebox and trims out!!!
