Vauxhall Vectra the tailgate locks / releases electrically but if using the key it just revolves and does nothing.
Variant: Artic 16V
Model Year: 1997
If I use the key in the tailgate lock it just revolves but doesn't operate the lock either unlocking or locking.

When you have it opened I would pull the boot trim and check operation / linkage when key used .
