Vauxhall Vectra overheating in traffic then more

Hi, my 1.8 petrol vectra started overheating if i was in traffic jams or at lights etc, nothing major just the needle going higher than normal, engine light came on at roughly same time, checked fuses etc and fan works when power to it. Then radio went to station and jammed but no sound from it, now when you start the car it idles fine but kangaroo jumps when you pull away, this happens for a few minutes before it drives ok. anyone any ideas, can these issues be linked or totally separate problems? Grateful for any assistance!

Probably normal in traffic as long as fan is kicking in and no coolant loss .The fan doesn't normally cut in till very hot .Misfire is probably seperate item and could be coil pack or plugs breaking down intermittently.

Check your plugs in case one is discoloured maybe your overheat issue is linked .If your temp.guage has changed from what you normally are familiar with.

In regard to the fan kicking in , it may be the coolant temp sensor that sends a signal to the ECU not working as well as it should and cutting in late .Unfortunately , your year 2005 was the change and there are two types as you can see here if needed ,

hi, thanks for that, will look at that today. Any ideas about the radio? It just went to an FM channel with nothing there and wont change. Absolutely nothing moves at all on the radio display!

Sounds like a faulty unit,you could try cutting the power to it,take it antenna is okay,would also check connections to unit first.
