Vauxhall Vectra cant shut bonnet

opened bonnet to refill windscreen washer resevoir with no problem..... bonnet will now not completely shut. HELP! for this seemingly "small" problem, i cannot now drive the car!

Make sure cable not sticking , holding lock release open .Try squirting WD40 on lock mechanism .

Try "working" the bonnet release handle backwards and forwards a few times in case the cable is sticking.
