Vauxhall Vectra power fault

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Variant: 1.8
Model Year: 2006
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
my vectra 1.8 on a x plate seams to holding back on power you can put your foot down and it seams to choke it self up and will only rev to 2000 and your lucky to get 20mph out of it.
then after about 2 miles theirs a bang and a shake from under the car ( sounds like a fire work )..ive changed the egr valve and the lambda sensor as i was told from a diagnostic machine ( engine managment light on )and this hasnt solved it ,i suspected it could be the cat but its not blowing of smelling like rotten eggs , ive checked the air flow sensor by unpluging it but it drove worse , then i thought it could be the throtal body sensor but now i guessing pls advice

It sounds like the cat may be partially blocked or part of the exhaust .

Same view ,blockage ,strip off the exhaust and check it ,normally if cat fail,s it block,s up the rear silencer.

The `bang` you mention can have enough force to destroy the inside of the back box. Knock it with your fist and see if it rattles or sounds `loose`

following to the above question, ive now had two dionstics done and parts replaced are egr valve , lambda sensor , temp control sensor , and yet the car still run poor the foult is still the same but no lights on dash,it still holds back but the bang noise has gone and if i wait it all of a sudden gets a power boost and just takes off , the exhurst is not blocked as i can tell and the presure if you block it nearly blows your hand off
please can anyone shed any more light on this problem before i spend and more money
regards john
