Vauxhall Vectra reduction in power when warm and thermostat not rising

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Variant: 1.9 CDTI SRI Estate
Model Year: 2005
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
We brought A 2005 Vauxhall Vectra Estate CDTI SRI this week, it has 77,000 miles on the clock and has a full MOT, all seemed well until we took it on a longer run yesterday, at the end of a 90mile round trip, all of a sudden it appeared to start struggling to pull away from junctions as if it may stall, it didnt but it felt like it had no power and was a bit spluttery while trying - any ideas?!!

Also the thermostat starts to rise and then drops back down to nothing?! The garage we brought the car off said he had changed the thermostat parts as that was a problem but its doing it again, it was fine when we picked it up but went back down to nothing part way through the journey. Any ideas???

Any help appreciated!

I hope the garage gave you a warranty with the car as this could be costly. Could be swirl valves, EGR valve, or DMF,(dual mass flywheel). Or even turbo problems. Swirl valves or EGR valve depends on the engine power. ie, 150 or 120 bhp...

Thanks for your response, it has just had a new clutch and flywheel so shouldnt be that. Will look into the other things suggested and contact the dealer we brought it from and see what they say!

first get it back to the garage. personaly i would start by stripping down and cleaning the egr valve and main throttle body it is very cpmmon for these to become clogged with carbon deposits and this can effect acceleration and power also fuel economey . as regards the thermostat problem, this is the most common fault on these vectras vaux have remodified the thermostats about 3 times as it is an ongoing issue if they have changed the thermostat (sounds unlikley) they should be replacing with the latest issue from vaux. fitting after market thermostats to these never last long ang the issue still comes back
