Vauxhall Vectra engine management light problem

Hi I have a vectra sri 140 1998. When I start it in the morning everthing is ok, all the lights go out on the dadhboard. I can drive it all day and no lights appear at all. When I stop the car and turn everthing off and restart it again the engine managment light comes on and stays on all the tim, doesnt effect the running of the car at all. Any ideas, cos I havnt Thanks, Chris

the problem is known as a 2 drive cycle problem. this means you have to start engine drive any distance stop engine twice before light comes on. you need to take car to garage and have the code read.its a less important problem thats why its 2 drive cycle

Hi is it possible to do your own diagnostics without a machine. There is a sit on the web that does tell you how but I cant find it . Any ideas anyone, thanks ,chris..... ps I have a vectra 140 sri
