Vauxhall Vectra radio gone into safe mode and loss of power whilst driving

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Variant: 2.2 direct design
Model Year: 2004
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi I bought a Vauxhall Vectra Direct Design 2004 Auto Model last month and I changed the battery yesterday because it just wouldn’t start last week. The radio has now gone into safe mode how do I get it to work. Also where would I find the codes to put in?
Then I went out last night, “the spanner in the middle of the car” symbol came on and all of a sudden the power went out. After waiting like 10 mins it started again but before i got to the end of the road died again. Waited another 10 mins, started it and parked the car properly. Does anyone know what the problem might have been
Thank you

Re the radio you will need the codes from a vauxhall dealer if they are not in your manual/ handbook.

Re the spanner symbol it probably needs a service ie oil and filters change. You'll need to get the service sensor reset at a garage so that the spanner light goes out.

Sounds like the car is going into 'limp' mode to protect the engine which is probably crying out for a service.

Cheers

Thanks for your respone, much appreciated. There was no manual with the vehicle when bought. If I buy a new manual, would I be able to get the code from there.

Secondly, when I got the car in January I was told it had been serviced and the oil changed. Yesterday I googled a bit and found out some story on fuel injectors of Vectras in that year range been faulty. Do you think it could also be that too. I would be happpy to service it again if it were just that

Radio codes can be obtained from vauxhall dealers as previously suggested. As for the spanner light, you need to get the car scanned to find the fault as it could be one of so many problems, no point in guessing and throwing money down the drain...
