Vauxhall Vectra when you open the car or its stood still there is a tapping noise for about 30 seconds.

opened the car the other day and there was a tapping noise seems to be coming from the dashboard lasts for about 30 seconds it even does it when the car is stood and the engine not running.

Could possibly be the recirculating motor on the heater?
Try pressing the re-circ switch see if it stops with just ignition lights on.
