I don't think resetting the windows would fix it , but worth a try by holding window in down position for 10 secs and then likewise in the up position . Also heard a suggestion that a low car battery can cause it too , but a bit dubious of that but would not rule it out .

Hello whittingehame,
Once again thank you for your help/suggestions in trying to solve my problem.
Unfortunately, I have tried them all, plus disconnecting the battery for several hours before reconnecting, to try and reset system(suggested by a Vauxhall service department agent), none of them have solved the problem.

Looks like I may have to take it in for re-programming.

Thanks again for your help.

Sorry we couldn't solve it but there has to be a micro switch , module . lock assembly , or something else to trigger the window drop . But I cant remember what solved it as it was either my bodyshop or auto electricians who were given the one or two we had over the years to fix . As you say Tech 3 / reprogramming may be the answer . Grateful if you could update the forum on the solution .

Replying to post by GeoffKing:
Car battery voltage is fine.

The roof operation set up, boot panel/partition pulled back towards opening and fully engaged into locked position. two locking levers on inside of car roof fully opened/released, handbrake on, ignition on -Roof opening does not operate, just get continuous acoustic sound.
This must be linked to the window problem as the windows are supposed to drop at the start of the roof opening operation.
Do they share an ECU? Relay? or something.
Dear whittingehame,
Correction: the roof does operate, by opening and closing ok, (one bolt not fully engaged before), but the windows still do not drop, when roof starts to open.

Booked in Tuesday, next week for a re-programme/reset to see if that sorts it, will let you know if it or something else solves the problem.

Checking with OPCOM /Tech 3 and reprogramming the roof control module hopefully will resolve it . Gone are the days when cars were relatively easy to fix prior to technology taking over !!!

Dear whittigehame,
The roof operation is working fine, just had not fully engaged the partition/panel in boot.
As for the windows not dropping it went in yesterday for its Tech3/reprogramming. Unfortunately, it did not show any Fault Codes and reprogramming did not fix my problem.
They seem to think that there may well be a problem with the Body Control Module(BCM), but could not be certain, however there does not appear to be any water ingress or corrosion on it. They said that there was no guarantee that changing the BCM would fix the problem, so couldn't/wouldn't justify buying a new BCM at £300+ or de-paired used BCM, if it didn't guarantee fixing the problem. Suggestion, wait to see if anything else starts to go wrong, which would indicate a fault with the BCM, then consider that it may be worthwhile change the BCM.
Sorry I could not pass on a fix to you, but thanks again for all your help.

Really surprised they could not find and rectify for definite a very common fault or show fault codes . I ran a GM dealership and if I had anything similar that was giving my workshop problems I would phone direct to Vauxhall Technical services for advice / guidance on the matter .
Again , amazed they haven't solved this .
