Do you have to remove the metal pipe to fit the belt ?

Maybe should have given more details. I am replacing a broken serpentine belt (Aux). I have the path diagram, but it looks like you have to remove the metal pipe that runs across the front to enable you to hook over the air con pulley, is this correct ?
