Vauxhall Mokka immobiliser icon intermittently appears, car still starts and runs smoothly, any ideas why?

Immobiliser icon appears intermittently ,car starts and runs smoothly and icon stays on,other occasions turning off engine and back on removes it. Appears to be worse in cold weather.

Strange , only thing I can think of possible cause would be a low car battery
