Vauxhall Meriva parking brake

Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Variant: 1.4 se
Model Year: 2010
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
The parking brake on the new Meriva is not fit for purpose. With the car in nuetral and the parking brake applied if you take the revs to over 1100rpm and press the clutch pedal the parking brake releases.I do not think this is safe 2 dealerships have said it is not faulty I think it is has anyone else had the same problem.

Are you sure this is a fault???? Or could it be an auto release fitted to the car...

I have been driving a new Meriva (1.4 turbo) limited edition for about four months. My experience of the electronic parking brake is that it is a near disaster - one is quite unable to control the slow movement of the car forward or backwards in a tight space on a steep hill as one could with a conventional handbrake. I am a highly experienced driver with about 45 years experience of normal and rally driving and I'm puzzled as to the 'logic' of this device. Was it ever road tested in the real world I wonder? I came perilously close to crashing into a car in front of me the other day whilst trying to reverse in a small space on a steep hill Very dangerous.
