First thing to check would be power steering fluid level as some model / years have had problems with leaks .

If your car has the EPAS ,get your battery LOAD tested and your alternator charging rate also as both can cause your problem . Most fast fit centres or likes of Halfords usually check F.O.C while you wait . Only takes a few minutes .
