Is there any reading on the rev counter when cranking?
Posted Aug 8, 2016 (8 years ago)
No .no rev counter does not move when cranking

No rev counter would lead me to suspect a faulty Crank Angle Sensor.
Nothing on the engine will work without this signal.
So either the CAS or the wiring/connectors.

I am having a similar problem. BUT insert key and use normal start procedure. Starts to engage starter but all dash lights go out as if flat battery, tried Jump start and trickle from other car but to no avail. sometimes when trying short toot from horn can also hear what appears to be a relay clicking on and off. RAC wont come out or advise as happened outside home my garage cant come out till Monday morning if it is a simple problem can do it myself. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR FAULT CODES.
