Vauxhall Insignia metal filings in fuel tank

Car: Vauxhall Insignia
Variant: 2.0 CDTi
Model Year: 2010
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Has anyone else had this problem: it started with the engine management system saying water in fuel tank call vauxhall. Did that, my garage went through various checks as proposed by vauxhall, they replaced new fuel tank, internal pump (in fuel tank)other fuel pump, along with other stuff like injector lines? After all these checks, the car is still not working and they have been advised to try another fuel tank before they start it as they checked the fuel tank only to find metal filings in the tank, so a new one is on order. they say that this has never happened before on any Vauxhall car, it is'nt even 2 years old yet. Any ideas?

Can`t say i`ve come across this before and the only advise i can give is to make sure vauxhaull get this sorted properly and to your absolute satisfaction.
I wonder if there is a bad batch of fuel tanks knocking around? hope not. Rather worrying tho.
Best of luck.

Cant see why a fuel tank would be the problem, sounds more like the high pressure pump is breaking down and circulating metal filings around the fuel system
