Vauxhall Grandland X grandland x power tailgate only partially opens before beeping and stops. have to force closed and afraid of damaging unit. any ideas?

Grandland x power tailgate failing to fully open.
When using the boot will only partially open before beeping twice and stopping. Have to manually push to fully open or close.
Brought to local dealer who could not solve problem and is likely a control panel issue with a £1k price tag!

On some models there is a section in the owners manual from page 29 onwards that you can check out re. operation of tailgate and settings
