Vauxhall Frontera loss of power above 2000 rpm

Car: Vauxhall Frontera
Variant: 2.5TDS
Model Year: 1997
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My frontera has suddly stopped reving past 2000 rpm when under load. Up to 2000 rpm it drives well. It will rev to 5000 when not in gear/driving I have changed fuel filter to ensure it was not blocked. I have disconnected air flow meter to see if it makes a difference. No change. It is 2.5 TDS fitted with Italian diesel engine

IS THERE A WARNING LAMP ON AS IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS IN LIMP HOME MODE WHICH RESTRICTS THE POWER TO PROTECT THE ENGINE WHEN A FAULT OCCURS. TRY HAVING ECU CODES READ.
