Vauxhall Frontera engine revs.

Car: Vauxhall Frontera
Variant: 3.2 V6
Model Year: 1999
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Occasionally the engine revs go up to 2000 plus for no apparent reason even when the engine is at normal running temp.
On a cold morning this high revvin will last up to a distance of 10 miles.
Anyone have the solution please.

Easiest and cheapest things first , try changing engine coolant temp sensor .
